Subject
File formatting, naming mechanics of files and directories
Description
Regardless of where data files are saved, there should be a naming system and file format consistency to the files. The purpose to file formatting is to allow access to the file in the future even if the original software is no longer available. A naming system should be such that onlookers can tell what the file is about without having to open each one. Librarians can make the directory and file names, and save each file in the standard file format for each type of file.
